Introducing the Deakins Footwear Collection

In 1991, Craig Nicolas Tate had a brainwave whilst studying a Fashion and Textiles degree in London. He wanted to create a range of designer clothing, footwear and accessories to meet the needs of the brand sensitive designer menswear customer. Craig Nicolas Tate wanted to combine key commercial trends from the runway with everyday desirability to create urban street level fashion items, never seen before in the UK fashion industry.

His ethos was to create high quality fashion, using only the best construction methods and good quality materials, making them highly desirable as well as being durable. The brand has been divided into several different collections which encompass the various designs. These include Nicholas Deakins Green Label which is designed to offer diverse styling in combination with superior construction, Nicholas Deakins Clothing which was launched in 2007 to tie in with the footwear lines, Deakins to provide desireable, affordable styles and Deakins Kids for the youth market. There is also a flagship store situated in Leeds which helps to retain the brands’ English roots.

The Deakins Footwear range was launched in 2001 and has been created with the same brand ethos as the rest of the collections – affordable footwear for the brand conscious menswear buyer. The brand filled the gap in the UK fashion arena for high-end fashion at an entry-level price, effectively bringing designer fashion to more people. As design director, Craig Nicholas Tate has achieved this by fusing the urban street image with directional, diverse styling and volume construction to keep prices affordable.

One of the key features of the Deakins Footwear collection is the renowned sole designs and sole branding on the footwear which is completely unique to the industry and not done by any other brand. The Deakins branded shoe uppers and sole units conveys the strong heritage with the Nicholas Deakins footwear brand. The soles have been designed to be as important as the uppers style. They are truly iconic in design.

The innovative designs in the Deakins Collection include some new lines for 2010 which strive to maintain the loyal and dedicated fashion conscious designer menswear buyers which are set to grow this brand into a global phenomenon over the next few years. New to the collection is the Little Rock and Arizona style of footwear which are both canvas pumps that have been designed in a slim fitting with elegance in mind. They offer a whole new perspective to wearing pumps – not just casual daywear, these pumps can now be incorporated into more formal looks.

The new styles of footwear in the Deakins Collections builds on popular styles from previous seasons. Now in its second season, the Oates style has proved to be a real favourite with fashion conscious buyers looking for affordable, designer footwear. The Oates style has the basic apron boot silhouette and is available in two contemporary colours – black and coffee, ideal for completing any outfit.

Another popular shoe in the Deakins Collection is the Scarface style which comes in three modern colours – black, brown and dark brown. These colour choices make it easy to team these shoes with jeans or smart trousers for a versatile day or night look. The side of the Scarface style has the embossed Deakins branding which is familiar within the range, along with a more discreet textile brand label. The sole of this style features a brickwork pattern with high impact Deakins branding in vibrant blue. No other brand features such detailing.

A slightly different look is achieved when wearing the Jack style from the Deakins collection. This shoe style incorporates fabric panels along with the leather panels to give the shoe a unique part shoe, part pump look which can be easily dressed up for a night out or dressed down for casual day wear. As with many of the other styles, the Jack style is available in black and brown for ultimate versatility.

Whatever style of clothing you opt to wear, whether high-street or designer menswear, be sure to team your outfit with footwear from the Deakins collection. It offers true designer style to give your look a lift, but with an affordable price tag.
